Drawing & Pastel Workshop – Oct 2023

I will discuss the importance of drawing, and follow that with some basic drawing exercises. Then in the afternoon transition to how drawing and pastels are used to create vibrant paintings. There will be time spent on materials, and why I feel they are important for what can be accomplished. There will be in-studio assignments to learn from, and challenge students on some of the methods that I use in my paintings. All of this with a fun atmosphere.
This one-day workshop runs from 10am until 4pm, on Saturday, October 14th, 2023, with a 1-hour lunch break.
Supply List
Materials for morning drawing class:
- Apron
- Sketchbook (Toned paper recommended, of 9×12 in size. Strathmore is a good toned sketchbook)
- Pencils (2H, 4H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B)
- Charcoal (hard and vine)
- Blending Stump (any size comfortable size)
- Knead eraser
- White Charcoal Pencil (Generals)
Materials for afternoon pastel class:
- Soft Pastels (Recommend a set of at least 15 Rembrandt SOFT pastels. Could be half sticks)
- Blending Stump (any size comfortable size)
- Knead eraser
- Pastel Paper (Optional. Alternatively, mixed-media, or Strathmore Toned)
- Watercolor Brush (Round)
