Jill Tichenor the artist, with dynamic painting of coffee and cup

There’s never a dull moment during a class or workshop!

About Me

My name is Jill Tichenor, I have a B.A. in Theatre/Film Design from the University of Kansas, and have been an active member of the MidAmerica Pastel Society for over 10 years. I have participated in art events and gallery shows all over the metro, including Westport Art Fair, Heartland Art Show, Buttonwood Art Space, Cathy Kline Art Gallery, Lawrence Art Guild, Rice Gallery, Brush Creek PleinAir event, and Stems Plein-Air event. I was delighted to win Leawood’s Arti Gras Juror’s Choice Award in 2018, and two awards through the Stems Plein-Air event in Overland Park, KS, including the People’s Choice in 2018 and 2nd Place for Pastels in 2019.

I work in many mediums, but pastel painting is my greatest love (aside from my family!) and that is how I spend a large portion of my time. I paint to exhibit, sell, and demonstrate, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

If you have longed to draw or paint, but not known where to start, have a look at my Classes & Workshops page – I run classes across Kansas, so there may be one in your area. Also, be sure to return for when my blog is up and running, for little nuggets of information that will aid beginners, as well as experienced artists.
